Yesterday the theme for my embossing class was “cupcakes.” We embossed with templates L9373 (Sweet Day), L9600 (Christmas Cupcake and Gum Drops), and L9742 (Bunny Cupcake). Here’s a look at the card projects:
This card is a flat 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″. I used Chocolate Truffle cardstock for the base and then I used a Decorative Labels 8 Nestie with “Swirlicious” cardstock on top. Then I took a 3 x 5″ white recipe card, scored it in half and mounted it on the front so that the recipe card opens for any sentiment you might want to write inside. I used the Colored Impressions Software for the cupcake and the “Happy Birthday” wording on the outside. I faux stitched and inked the edges of the recipe card and added a tiny pink L.I. button to the flower.
This is a Twist Turn card that I found on U-Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cSseHu8imY). It’s really quite simple once you see how it’s done! The inside of my card reads: “May your Christmas be filled with cupcakes and gumdrops!” I used Sweet Tomato Blizzard, Sweet Tomato Plaid, Citrus Checks, Raspberry, Fudge, Split Pea Solid, Powered Sugar and two small red L.I. buttons.
This one is called a Flip Card and you can find dozens of samples on U-tube. It’s called a flip card because the middle piece flips side-to-side, back-and-forth when you pull the ribbon-edges of this flat card. I used the Colored Impressions Software and “reduced” the size of the cupcake to add the smaller version, of the cupcake, to the flip side of the card. I used a Labels 9 Nestie for my center flip section and Cupcake Shoppes cardstock.
This card is similar to the Happy Birthday cupcake above … same idea but I used a bunny template instead. Chalked the ears and cheeks and added a tiny white L.I. button. The pink flower is Guava Wash and the carrot is Citrus Checks and Limeade Solid cardstocks.
This is a 5 x 5″ card, using Chocolate Solid as the base, Chocolate Fleur, Fudge, Cupcake Shoppes, Cornflower Pinstripe, Powdered Sugar, and Colored Impressions Software. My granddaughter came to the class and brought her Vegan Cupcakes for dessert! You might say, “We all had a sweet day!”
Embossing joys, 🙂 Donna
